No. 5 Medina can’t keep up with Lewis Center Olentangy in 53

MEDINA, Ohio — Olentangy made the hour and half drive up I-71 with a mission to knock off one of the top teams in Northeast Ohio, and it succeeded by establishing the run for a 53-28 win over Medina on Friday night.

Battling the humidity and bus lag from a long drive for an nonconference matchup between two Division I powerhouse programs, it was the Bees (1-1), ranked fifth in this week’s cleveland.com Top 25, taking the first punch going up 6-0 on a short rushing score from senior Jack Wojciak after the first possession of the game. The 2-point conversion failed.

From there, the Braves (2-0) took control of the first half with three straight scores on the ground from a team that features a Penn State quarterback commit in senior Ethan Grunkemeyer.
